Agape Farms LLC

Richards, TX

Our Story — The Heart Behind The Agape Experience Agápē (ah•GAH•pey)is the word for the truest, purest form of love—God’s love. But it sure didn't begin that way. We never had big dreams of tractors and early mornings. Quit the opposite actually. I'm comically known for being eternally annoyed at NOT being a morning person. I've been drawn to and known for my love animals from birth...exotic animals though, not boring farm animals. My college career started with a major in Zoology until I realized I'd be scooping poop, to barely scrape by. Ended my college career, with a Marketing Degree. (So I surely wasn't going to scoop poop for free, if I wasn't going to do it for peanuts.) On top of all that: My husband swore he’dneverlive farm life again after growing up on a working cattle ranch. When we stumbled on this worn-down little homestead tucked in the Sam Houston National Forest, no a/c, no insulation, overgrown, creaky drafty pier-and-beam floors, seasonal bugs (all of them), tattered overflowing sheds, broken fences; we fell head-over-heels in love. It wasn’t pretty—but somehow, we knew. We were supposed to steward that land. Looking back, it seems a little crazy. This was 2018. Homesteading wasn't a "thing" yet. Small farms selling their small batch offerings was just growing in popularity. Farmer's Markets were still sparse and only for big cities. Even the thought of things like raw milk, pasture raised beef, farm fresh eggs, etc were all very foreign to almost everyone. What had we gotten ourselves into? We didn't know a lot about farming - still don't, in a lot of ways. But with every project, every crazy idea, every pick ourselves up, every win and every heavy loss - man have we grown. Today, Brian keeps the farm standing—taking care of the big projects, repairs, land clearing, and maintenance. He also manages & provides guest support for Agápē Nests, leads & teaches at our private training range Sword & Shepherd, and supports ministry partners like Heroes for Humanity—all while coaching, parenting, and shuttling our kids around Montgomery County. I (Brandi) handle the day-to-day farm operations and animal care, while managing The Gathered Local—our community-centered food trailer—and Sown Harvest, our farm-crafted all-natural line of face, body and home care products. All of which are possible because I have an amazing business partner, top-notch employees, at an ethically and morally rich business I'm incredibly proud of,Truth Resources. Between it all we have a dedicated team, and our kids, who contribute more than they probably signed up for—but refuse to do it any other way. We don't produce a lot of food, but our relationships produce a lot of fruit. That's how the farm we named before the ink even dried on the paperwork, the name we had to look-up to find out what we were describing, the farm with nothing to farm became Agápē Farms—because deep down, that’s what we were really meant to farm:God’s love. The land itself is an offering of love. You can feel in your bones. Deep in your soul. A love that's pure, that asks nothing of you. A love that multiplies. A love worth sharing. That's why we hope whether it’s through food, farm life, community, education, lodging, retreats, or ministry—we hope you feel welcome here. Through every part of The Agape Experience. Our homestead focuses on raising four primary crops:Quail, Duck, Rabbit, and Lamb.
