First Light Farms
"We don't just raise the animals for others — we rely on them ourselves. Our family uses everything we produce, from the fresh eggs and milk to the poultry and lamb, and we hold each product to the same high standards we'd expect at our own table." First Light Farms sits on 5 acres in Wauconda, IL, raising grass-fed Jersey, Guernsey, and Brown Swiss dairy cows alongside Icelandic, Katahdin, and Polypay sheep, heritage chickens, Pekin and Khaki ducks, and Pearl Gray guinea fowl. The farm never uses soy, pesticides, growth hormones, or synthetic supplements. Raw milk available year-round through herdshare ($20 annual fee, $18/gallon) from cows Hazel, Suki, Maple, Roma, and Jill. The shop carries 100% grass-fed lamb cuts (ground, stew meat, shank, shoulder roast, rib and loin chops, leg of lamb), ground goat, soy-free pasture-raised whole chickens and turkeys, duck eggs, seasonal quail and guinea fowl eggs, raw honey, and tallow cream. All meat arrives frozen; on-farm pickup by appointment only.
